Actuality-of-Being Space:

One of the hardest decisions to make as a high school student is determining what college or university to go to and what major to choose – all of this to ultimately answer the question “What do you want to be when you grow up?” An actuality-of-being space provided by the school using cloud architecture should help students get to the answer to this crucial question sooner.

The actuality-of-being space for the education theme would be the area in which the student gets to reflect on how they are actually doing in the classroom. This is the area where the student can do self-evaluation and self-reflection on their progress through their school courses and also get feedback from instructors on how well they are doing. In this space the student can see their progress towards graduation, see how well they are doing on their course work and also plan their course outcome. This is where the student can view a report on their graduation progress and courses still to take; and enroll in classes for the next year. Students can see their GPA, their individual course grades and their specific assignment grades. Students will also have a planner in this space, where they can plan and map out their schedule for the future based on their individual goals. Their entire academic objectives in terms of what classes they will like, what after school activities they will like to join, and their plan to graduating from high school and college preparation can all be stored here for the student to use as a guide. By setting SMART (specific, measurable, assignable, realistic and time-related) goals in this space, students can easily track their progress and update and change their plans accordingly – all of which can help the student in finding their calling and their career of interest.

Why Cloud Computing for Actuality-of-Being Space?

According to Lavdim Cena, managing director of UppCast, most schools have old hardware and software (as sited by Gibson, 2014). Cloud computing, therefore, is crucial to enhancing reliability of technology in an educational setting (Gibson, 2014). Cena emphasizes the need to adopting cloud architecture by schools and colleges to meet the demands of faculty and students inside and outside the classroom while using their own devices (as sited by Gibson, 2014). Cloud computing offers better applications, immediate access to content, cost-effectiveness, scalability, and data back up and allow for unlimited distribution channels (Gibson, 2014). By hosting the actuality-of-being space using cloud architecture, students can maintain their school progress anywhere, at any time, using any device. Students’ transcripts can never get lost as it is stored within the cloud. This form of connectivity and easy access can help students stay on track regarding their goals they have set for themselves and ultimately achieve these goals.

Conclusion

The actuality-of-being space is the space where the students will find their ultimate interest – through planning and scheduling and seeing their progress – students can “find” themselves (academically) in terms of long term goals such as what college to go to, what to major in and finally what career path to take.
